Community

Volunteering in my community is part of who I am.  The Jackass Half Marathon has been an amazing event the last five years in the beautiful Silver Valley.  The route is a mostly level paved path with stunning scenery that begins in Wallace and ends in Kellogg. Volunteers dress up and encourage the participants along the way.  Our high school shop class makes the “jackass” medals for all the participants and as they cross the finish line in uptown Kellogg the announcer calls out each and every one of them by name and states they are officially a jackass.  If this sounds absurd and you’re wondering why anyone would want to be called a jackass…it is all in fun and refers back to the legend that Kellogg was discovered by Noah Kellogg and his jackass. The event is hosted annually on the first Saturday in October by the Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce and proceeds benefit the community.  This year we dressed up as bees because “We want to bee your Realtor” and provided participants with water, Gatorade and mimosas!  When the last participant passes our station we head up to the finish line and cheer them on some more. The event ends with a street party in front of our local Radio Brewing and a good time is had by all.

We want to “bee” your Realtor!
